Randy Reid was born Jay Randall Reid and raised in Elmira and is the youngest of eight children from Wilbur and Beatrice Reid, who were married for 50 years. The Reid Family has roots steeped in Elmira since the mid 1800’s. His great-great grandfather John, who was an escaped slave, used the Underground Railroad and arrived Park Church in Elmira and settled in Elmira. Click below to learn more about the Reid Family.
Randy became a father to Jaran Reid, at the age of 19. When Jaran was 7 years old Randy was awarded custody and went on to raise him. Jaran is now 32 and works in the Elmira area and is married to his wife Amanda. They have a daughter Aubriannah.
Randy has been married to Dee Harvey Reid for 22 years. Dee is a native of Binghamton and graduated from Binghamton High School in 1987. Dee and Randy have a blended family with Jaran, Jerome, Ariel and Cam. They are also grand-parents to Aubriannah.
Randy spent 16 years in business leadership positions from Assistant Community Relations Director at Arnot Health, to News Director of WENY-TV and spent 8 years as Vice President and GM of WETM-TV in Elmira. Currently ran is the Business Development Manager at Capabilities in Elmira.
Small Business Owners
Both Randy and Dee were small business owners in the Elmira- Corning area. Randy started Reid Media Group, LLC, which was an Advertising Agency, in Elmira 2011. His wife Dee opened Heels & Hobos, a small boutique on Corning’s Market St. In the summer of 2017 due to a slow down in business both of our companies closed. Randy currently is the Business Development Manager at Capabilities in Elmira and provides marketing consulting services in the Elmira-Corning area.
Randy has served on a number of Community Boards over the past 15 years. Currently, Randy is an elected member of the Elmira City School District Board of Education. Reid has been honored to serve on the Boards of Southern Tier Economic Growth (STEG), Chemung Chamber, Southern Tier Central Regional Planning and Development Board (STC), Chemung County Childcare Council, John Jones Museum and Arctic League. Reid previously served on the Boards of Community Foundation of Elmira Corning & Finger Lakes, Red Cross and the Clemens Center.
Randy is currently a Rotarian in the Elmira Rotary Club and a past Paul Harris Fellow. Dee and Randy have performed in a number of Rotary fundraisers in the past few years which have generated well over $100,000 for our community. You will also find Randy running the audio board during Sunday Service at Faith Temple COGIC in Elmira.
